Chiropractic relieves a variety of pain
Chiropractic provides Lee’s Summit, MO residents with long term pain relief stemming from back and neck pain, migraines, sciatic pain, and more. But, if you’ve never been to a chiropractic clinic before, it can be nerve wracking. Below, you’ll find some tips to help prepare you for your first chiropractic visit and make you feel more comfortable.
There are many things you can do to prepare for your chiropractic visit
First, take notes of what exactly is bothering you. It can be challenging to remember all the details of your pain on the spot when the doctor asks. If may be helpful to make a note of the details so you can be sure you give the doctor all the information he needs. This includes noting when the pain started and what you were doing when it started. Write down your symptoms such as if the pain is constant or comes and goes, throbbing or shooting, and where specifically, you feel pain. If you have a good day, note it, if you have an exceptionally bad day, write that down too.
Second, take note of your family’s history. If you have family members with a history of herniated or bulging discs, or a family member who has frequent lower back pain, take note. This may help your doctor diagnose the cause of your pain.
Third, wear clothing to that doesn’t restrict movement to your first appointment. At your chiropractic appointment, the doctor will need to test your range of motion so wearing restrictive clothing can inhibit your ability to move which can impact your diagnosis.
Lastly, ask any questions you have before you come in. If you think of a question a few days before your appointment, contact the office. By asking ahead of time, you’ll be more at ease and feel more prepared when you come into the office.
Bring a notebook to make notes
When you visit your chiropractic doctor, it may be helpful to bring paper to take notes. The doctor may give you care instructions for home, or give you a list of things you can do at home to help relieve the pain or prevent it from coming back. But, it can be difficult to remember everything after you leave. By taking notes, you can feel confident you have everything you need to know written down.
